Watch: Sampa The Great & Denzel Curry “Lane” Visuals

“The journey of life is amazing, from its origin and bond of creation. So much life, so much freedom, free spirit, wandering spirit, lost trying to remember the laughter. Shrinking down to half versions of what it once was. In the end, we try to piece it all together, to recollect purpose through this new norm. This journey has brought a mirror, does my inner reflect what you see? Through every season, through every cycle, from my origin to my end, through every light and every shadow. My mirror, the seed I saw, will aim to balance, as above so below“, that’s what we hear when the video opens up in Sampa’s mellow voice accompanied by striking visuals.
Sampa the Great is a Zambian-born Australian-based rapper, poet, and songwriter. According to Apple Music, “her delivery flows between aggressive, confident rapping, smooth soul-jazz singing, poetic reflections and her music is similarly electric brew.” She just recently performed at Coachella, but this is not what this article is about, it is about her chef d’oeuvre “lane” music video in which she features American rapper, Denzel Curry also referred to (by himself) as the “best rapper alive.” The video was conceptualized by Sampa herself along with Imraan Christian and Rharha Nembard and it was directed by Imraan Christian and Rharha Nembard as well.
The video allows us into Sampa’s journey of life and its different seasons and cycles. The wardrobe styling was impeccable all thanks to Boogy Maboi and the director of photography, Jason Prins did a stellar job. Watch the video below.
